Ongoing Features

Hey guys, WorldDude here to present to you a list of the ongoing features for Strangers in the Strangest Lands!

A Look Back: This feature was created to allow me to take a glance at games I remember playing a long time ago with fresh eyes to see how well they have aged. I tend to focus on game I have personal experience, either positive or negative, that I decide to return to for one reason or another.

A Piece of Riss: Riss talks about gaming topics that are relevant to her other interests or hold a special place for her.

Afterthoughts: Sometimes after writing a review I just need to ramble a bit more about the game, and this is where I do it. So every now and again I have more to say that normally wouldn’t make it into the review. My afterthoughts will either actually add to the review or just allow me to ramble more about something related to it.

Bad games: Just a category that focuses on, well, bad games. Usually used when I think back on a game I hated that I feel is worth discussing. It’s fun to rant about bad games sometimes!

Best of: Contains lists of the best games of the year, usually.

Final Verdict: A combination of original blog posts and posts containing reviews for Snackbar Games. The original posts contain final thoughts of mine (or Riss’) on games we’ve been playing, new or old. It’s not formatted like a typical review, but it will provide you with plenty of thoughts on a game that is worth talking about for one reason or another. (See also: Reviews)

Game impressions/demo impressions: Just a quick post containing quick impressions of a game we haven’t finished (or a demo we have played recently). Used to file final verdict posts under this category, but separating them allows us to give our quick and dirty first thoughts on a game we’ve currently knee deep in.

Game news/topics of discussion: Thoughts on a big topic that is swirling around the gaming world, whether it is a recent piece of news or a gaming related topic I feel is worth discussing. Also contained are posts with links containing my monthly New Game+ column on Snackbar Games, in which I take a look at a different gaming related topic that I felt was worth mentioning. It could relate to a specific genre of games (horror and music games), an aspect of games (sound design and linearity), or just any gaming related topic that is worth talking about in some capacity. I love games; not just playing them, but understanding them, and that is what NG+ and these topics of discussion are all about. (See also: New Game+)

Random note: Just a post about something gaming related that crosses my mind at any time. It’s not meant to be an expanded post like the topics of discussion, just something that I feel like writing about, well, randomly. The posts aren’t long, but they help me express some quick thoughts on something that I feel is worth sharing.

The Significance Project: The idea behind the Significance Project is simple: writing about games that matter to me for one reason or another. We all have favorite games, which are always fun to write about, but there are other games we could love even if we don’t consider them a favorite. I’m here to talk about games that I love, whether the reasons are few or many. The basic goal is to answer one question: to answer one question: Why is this game important to me?
