30 Days of Gaming Day 30: Your favorite game of all time

November 22, 2010

By WorldDude

Oh man, do I even need to go into detail about this one? My favorite game of all time (at this moment anyway) is Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.

I’ve already raved plenty about this game, there isn’t really much else I can say. The game looks amazing, has huge gameplay improvements that turn what used to be strictly a stealth game into something much more, wraps up the entire series’ storyline in a big way, and is absolutely fun from start to finish. People have qualms with the series due to its incredibly long cut scenes, but I think they work incredibly well in the game’s favor, especially in MGS4′s case. This is the closest to a perfect game I have ever played.

And with that, 30 Days of Gaming finally draws to a close. I hope you guys enjoyed it!

30 Days of Gaming Day 29: A game you thought you wouldn’t like, but ended up loving

November 21, 2010

By WorldDude

I’m usually pretty optimistic about games, unless it’s from a series or genre I am typically not a fan of, so it’s a bit difficult to try and find one for this day. But I think I’m going to go with a game that helped me discovery what is now one of my favorite game series.

30 Days of Gaming Day 28: Favorite game developer

November 20, 2010

By WorldDude

So many good game developers to choose from! Although anyone who knows me should already know the answer to this. Not sure if they’ve always been my favorite, but once one particular series began, there was no denying how much I loved them. No, not Valve. Nope, not Harmonix either!

30 Days of Gaming Day 27: Most epic scene ever

November 19, 2010

By WorldDude

Yeah, I never thought I’d write that in the title of a blog post, but that’s what this day is all about! I’m not sure how I’d rank the epicness of specific scenes or not. Is there an epicness meter? A scale? Either way, one scene in a fairly recent release popped up almost immediately.

Just so you know, there are METAL GEAR SOLID 4 SPOILERS BELOW. You have been warned.

30 Days of Gaming Day 26: Best voice acting

November 18, 2010

By WorldDude

Voice acting in video games has come a long way since the days of the original Resident Evil, and we all know how that one turned out. If you said absolutely amazing, then you’re correct! But amazing in the worst possible way. Either way, voice acting in games is generally pretty good, all things considered, so it’s hard not to go with a more modern release.

30 Days of Gaming Day 25: A game you plan on playing

November 17, 2010

By WorldDude

A game I plan on playing? I plan on playing many games! I’m crazy, so I’m currently bombarding myself with new games to play despite not needing to. Either way, I think I’ll go with a game that’s not yet released. This is a game I think deserves a lot more buzz, but sadly is getting next to none.

30 Days of Gaming Day 24: Best classic game

November 16, 2010

By WorldDude

What defines a “classic game” exactly? I would assume it’s a game we played that came out ten or more years ago. Although the definition could change completely depending on when you grew up and what games you grew up playing. Either way, after juggling the idea around in my head for a while, I decided I would go with my first choice.

30 Days of Gaming Day 23: Game you think had the best graphics or art style

November 15, 2010

By WorldDude

Games look pretty amazing these days, there’s no denying this, but the general attack on the look of modern games is how they all look the same (especially shooters). While I won’t get into the specifics about that particular issue here, I will say that games with unique art styles are hard to come by these days. Here’s what I consider to be the best (and most importantly, best looking) of the bunch.

30 Days of Gaming Day 22: A game sequel which disappointed you

November 14, 2010

By WorldDude

Many games, whether they are sequels or not, have disappointed me over the years. I really could make an entire series of blog posts on disappointing games. Yes, I buy into hype way too often (and always fail to learn my lesson), but sometimes it pays off in a big way! Strictly in terms of disappointing sequels, one immediately comes to mind.

30 Days of Gaming Day 21: Game with the best story

November 13, 2010

By WorldDude

My first thought was to go with any of the Metal Gear Solid games, with MGS4 in particular the one that stuck out to me the most. But then I realized that MGS4′s story isn’t nearly as good without having played the previous three games, so I feel like I might be cheating by picking that game. I decided to go with the best self-contained story, one that works the best just by playing that one game and that one game alone.
