June was a pretty eventful month. Well, the first week of June was anyway, with the rest of the month being slow with a few great game releases but no huge news. I expect the next couple of months will be exactly the same, as I will also struggle to find things to write about within the next two months. With so few games coming out, it’s always time to revisit old games I never had a chance to finish! But also, what does that mean for the blog? I’m unsure yet, but hopefully I will find enough things to talk about to keep this blog updated daily. But for now, June is the most eventful month out of the three, so let’s look at my favorite moments from the month.
June 1st and June 2nd, 2009 – E3 09 press conference impressions: Three very good press conferences begin one of the best E3 events in years. With some huge announcements, plenty of great game footage, and a very strong presence from all three companies, it’s hard to deny that E3 is back and better than ever. It’s clear that the big three had a lot of time to think where to go within the next year, as they are all taking some slightly newer approaches. With Sony and Microsoft both throwing their hats in the motion control ring, Nintendo teaming up with a legendary developer on a classic franchise, and Sony also going download only with the PSP Go, there were many fantastic surprises to see and hear about. And that was all before E3 actually began.
June 16th, 2009 – A blog post that gets me some recognition: Just pointing out that the developer of Mushroom Men recognized this post (mainly because I praised it), but it was just nice to see it. Certainly made my day when I originally posted this on Press X to Win back in February.
June 23rd, 2009 – The launch of my blogcast: This was a great day (despite how many fucking problems I had getting the damn thing to work). Silversoul and I recorded our first blogcast for Stranger in the Strangest Lands, the first to hopefully many. Despite some problems (mainly on my end) with my microphone, it received a pretty positive reception. While I can’t see how many times it was actually downloaded, and would still like to find a good Podcast hosting site, for now this will have to do.
That’s about it. Seriously, June (after E3) was dull and left us with nothing but more anticipation for the Fall and Winter, when all of the really good stuff comes out. I’m not sure if I’ll do another one of these posts until the news and game releases really start picking up, because there may not be a point. But hey, enjoy the time to catch up on older releases!
